Spacious room and good location in Ipoh city.
The furniture are old and the staff are serious face ad not smiling. The breakfast buffer is not delicious and not much choices.

It is very convenience to go for shopping and food, I like the spacious hotel lobby and christmas decoration.
The Wi-Fi system is not that good, sometimes no line and the speed is very slow.

I like its location situated in the middle of town with easy access to good Ipoh food. It is an old hotel but still quite well maintain. Checking in through Booked.net was hassle free except the hotel had overlooked my request for 2 separate beds instead of one king size bed being offered. This oversight was quickly rectified.
It is an old hotel and smell of Indian perfume is very heavy. By the way most of the staff are Indian. I am not trying to say the smell is bad but it is a bit too strong for our liking. On checking in the staff asked me which newspaper I wanted and I told her our local Star paper. But the next morning none was delivered and on inquiry the staff old me not enough to distribute to all. This should not happened because they should know by next morning how many copies are needed. Apparently no body take note of this and I am sure I am not the only one who stayed there on that day who did not receive the morning papers.

Location
Lousy maintenance, dirty (furnitures), empty fridge, cockroaches, gym equipment for a 4 star Hotel way to old, spa cold like a fridge (staff wearing jackets and say they can't switch the ac off.

The central location is good for a city visit
The Syuen is an insult to Ipoh tourism. The foyer bar was not stocked no wine, no beer, no cocktails. Room 500 is a pathetic attempt at a junior suite complete with cracked sink, missing tiles and stained floors. It is located directly above the night club with thumping music until 02.30. The check out clerk was asleep at his desk at 06.45 when we attempted to check out. The porters don't start work until 07.00 making necessary to handle your own luggage. Absolutely awful

The bedroom was big and had some lovely touches, including new hardwood flooring an tinted full-length windows. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. Breakfast was quite nice.
The hotel is undergoing renovations and on the floor I stayed, renovation of the hallways is sorely needed. The carpet is threadbare and stained. The housekeeping staff have obviously been avoiding thoroughly cleaning the bathroom - in my room the base of the toilet was filthy.

Perfect location to eateries. The street isn't so busy though it was xmas eve. Peaceful than Kuala Lumpur anytime
It needs a new coat of paint, change if carpet and a lit brighter lobby
